What Does the Bible Say About..Our Teacher?

Is the Bible supposed to be your only teacher?

Answer

The Bible is the ultimate authority. Anything any man teaches should be compared to what the Bible says. “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming [thither] went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:10-11) This doesn’t mean, though, that men don’t have anything to teach you. “It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21) “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:14-15) So the Bible itself teaches that men are God’s teachers.
